Funding of £96.6 million was awarded in the most recent round of the Rural Priorities fund, whilst application deadlines have been extended slightly in the spring round to take account of the bad weather.
The most recent information from the Scottish Government on the transfer of the community services and facilities option from Rural Priorities to LEADER suggests that it might take place later than previously thought.
The Scottish Government used their first rural gathering event in Perth to announce an increase in the LEADER funding rate for projects in rural areas.
All new applications to the Community Services and Facilities option of Rural Priorities (within the Scotland Rural Development Programme) will now be eligible for an increased grant rate of 90%.

The Scottish Government has recently published Peter Cook's review of the Scotland Rural Development Programme (SRDP). The review was commissioned in January (see previous article) and took place before the full-scale review which is required in 2010.
